FAQ

Before you commit to a property, know what you're really choosing.

A listing can show you the home. PropertyCheck helps you understand the street, neighbours, access, everyday life and issues around the address before you rent or buy.

Why check a property that already looks good in the listing?

Photos and inspections mostly show you the home itself. PropertyCheck helps you look beyond it - at the street, nearby buildings, access, transport, schools, everyday places, planning and environmental issues that may affect what it is actually like to live there.

What could PropertyCheck show me that a listing usually doesn't?

Depending on the data available for the address, a PropertyCheck can show things such as lot and building context, space to neighbouring buildings, street and parking conditions, school catchments, public transport, nearby shops and parks, waterfront access, reported-crime context, environmental overlays, planning information and other location factors.

Can't I just find all of this myself?

Often, yes. The problem is that the information can be spread across council maps, police data, transport timetables, planning systems, government datasets and mapping services. PropertyCheck brings relevant information together around one address, with sources and data dates, so you can spend less time searching and more time deciding what matters to you.

How much does it cost?

One PropertyCheck is A$17.95 including GST. One-off purchase. No subscription.

Can I see a sample report first?

Yes. Open the sample report (PDF) - a real PropertyCheck report for Q1, 9 Hamilton Avenue, Surfers Paradise: a landmark building, not anyone's private home.

What happens if something can't be confirmed?

We tell you. If the available source data cannot verify something important, PropertyCheck shows that limitation rather than inventing an answer.

Where does the information come from, and how current is it?

PropertyCheck uses government, public and licensed data sources. Different sources update at different times, so the report shows source and data-date information where applicable to help you see where the information came from and how current it is.

Does PropertyCheck tell me whether I should rent or buy?

No. PropertyCheck helps you see things you may want to investigate, compare or ask about before you commit. Your priorities - and the final decision - are yours.

Does it replace an inspection, conveyancer or professional advice?

No. It is designed to help you arrive better informed and know what questions to ask. Important matters should still be confirmed with the appropriate authority or professional where required. If you are buying, see our Gold Coast property due diligence guide for the different layers of checks.

How do I contact you?

Use our contact form. We reply within 1 business day. If something went wrong with a report you paid for, include the property address and the email used at checkout.
